Divorce Mediation

Divorce is one of the most common, most profound, and most stressful life transitions we encounter.  The uncertainty and acrimony of the traditionally litigated divorce makes this process infinitely more difficult for all involved.  Children, in particular, suffer the effects of divorce litigation.  An alternative to consider is divorce mediation.

In a mediated divorce, a mediator works with you and your partner to negotiate and facilitate an agreement that resolves all of the issues encountered in a divorce situation:  Child custody and visitation, support, and property division.  Far more options are available as settlement alternatives, and a skillful mediator can help the couple to discover creative solutions to difficult scenarios.  The transparency of the mediation process can assist in rebuilding trust between partners that may have eroded over the course of a difficult marriage and separation.

Mediation is a confidential process.  Additionally, the goal is full financial disclosure between the spouses, so that each is able to enter into a fully informed decision and is confident in the resolution ultimately reached.  For this purpose, all meetings are conducted jointly.  Communications that occur between mediation sessions take place via email.

As part of my divorce mediation service, I handle all of the court paperwork for both parties.  Retainer fees for divorce mediation are quoted on a case-by-case basis.
